Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)
I aim to help youth increase make use of their existing capacities towards peacebuilding and community development.
Our area, Uvira, has served as the stronghold of armed groups and ethnic based conflicts. Thousands of people died, many girls and women raped, the population forced to be permanently displaced.
Young people are actively involved in DRC’s conflict in general and in Uvira particularly, they are the most affected by conflicts, they are both conflicts' victims and actors; they lose relatives in most cases, their access to education is limited and they have become the main target of rape a horrible situation prevailing. On the other hand, communities and armed groups, perpetrators go through young people vulnerability to use them as a free and unconscient violence force.
The general perception here in the eastern DR Congo prove that population think that youth are only committed to make or participate into violence, they don’t think about the opposite side, the youth capacity into peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
Our challenge is to overcome the tgeneral perception by giving youth from all communities opportunity to participate into peacebuilding activities. As per our previous experience we believe they are able to make immediate and visible change towards sustainable peace.
The exclusion of youth into peace process benefits dividers and community conflicts stakeholders.
Our project aims to make these youth a third neutral community intervening in mediation and resolution of conflict opposing many ethnic groups in our area.
Trained on peacebuilding, conflict resolution and nonviolence these youth will constitute a strong bridge for community peace coexistence and therefore to sustainable and safe productive community development initiatives in the area and we aim to create permanent youth peace clubs and empower them with skills on peacebuilding, conflict resolution and nonviolence and involve them dynamically into peacebuilding.
Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)
Our main beneficiaries are youth between 14 an 30 , their families and community of Uvira are secondary beneficiaries. We aim to involve education strutures, all communities youth are available in schools. We aim as well to partner with local municipalities and villages.
In the past we worked with schools in the area and our programme had impact.
To be implemented our project shall follow these steps: creation of youth Peace Clubs from mainly local institutions(municipalities, cities, quarters, schools...), then Peace Leaders training representing all clubs selection and training. The next step is the Public peace education activities, at the end we aim to create a modern Peace digital centres that shall help youth skills share and exchange as well as support the project sustainability. These centers will serve these youth in both sharing skills and learning with other youth abroad.
How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)
Our project aims to use entirely youth capacities in building peace within our conflicted communities. We wish to prove how youth creativities and dynamism can change positively and sustanably our future. By involving youth into peacebuilding today we therefore prevent future or recurrent conflicts within our communities and country. We do believe in their capacity in change, they just need orientation, that is what our project aims to deal with. Train them, empower them with related skills, frame them and follow up their action.

In 3-4 sentences, tell us the inspiration or story that encouraged you to start this project.
In 2011-2012 I managed a self inspired programme aiming to involve youth into peace and conflict resolution through public activities such as theater(drama), games, etc. This programme had visible impact because they involved youth from all ethnic groups. The youth recovered mutual confidence and together they transmitted a common peace message to all communities in conflict. The programme has proven youth capacities to make change within their respective communities.
Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).
Peace is mainly influenced by ethnic tensions in Uvira region. These tensions have affected the prosperity within this area originally known as the most richful holding natural resources. The lack of safety and intercommunity confidence had consequences on population's prosperity and they rated as the poorest. We aim to rebuild onfidence between communities, decrease intercommunity conflicts through youth involvement and therefore expect community's prosperity in near future.
