Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)

For your information, the war in the DRC started since along times started in 1997 when the President Mobutu was in power till now. And it has occasioned many victims for example men, women and children. This war has occasioned the extreme poverty, hunger, abandoned and orphaned children without education wandering about the city as a result of insecurities and criminalities etc. This is the main reason that RAAPS-UK and DRC were set up in order to try to break these barriers. In other words, the civil war in DR Congo has caused great insecurity. People are fleeing Eastern Congo. Many are children who have lost their parents, homes and chance of a normal life. Instead of a life on the streets, RAAPS-UK aims to provide a school and home to be a place where they can learn, be safe and become part of the solution for their community.By providing accommodations such as dormitories for orphaned children in the war for their best education; supporting widows mostly women with food ,water, electricity, clothes etc. all of which aim to help those in need become self-sufficient and move out of poverty and insecurities. There is not a problem, obtaining a permission to build schools in DRC is not a complicated issue, we have already been in the process of contacting the local government about that. Due to the disorder currently at Central government, we are working initially with the local authority and/or local bishop to certify local activity. At the moment we are first recruiting children and starting to build the first school and office in the capital Kinshasa before moving to the countryside.

Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)

As stated in the governing document Those who will benefit from this project are mainly vulnerable people i.e. those living in poverty i.e. poor families, victims of wars such as children abandoned and orphaned. We are starting to build a school for children ages 3 up to 18 years old together with dormitory living space and facilities for sports and games. By providing education and opportunities for social activities, we will prevent children following a life of crime on the streets or becoming victims of crime themselves. The project will give the opportunity for these children to grow safely and contribute to their own well-being and that of their community. In the longer term, with our partner RAAPS-DRC, we will support older young people and widows who have fled insecure areas.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)

There is a saying or parable that says a country or a world without children is considered a banana tree without its young. the day he dies will be the end of his story. So we need to protect and save our children lives . By dealing with children issues in this project is a great and vital recommendation in all over the world. That is why we are thinking that our project could be or classified among the best ideas . We need to save first lives of vulnerable people such as children , women, old families etc. for their integration in the society...

RAAPS-UK always work in close collaboration and have, where appropriate, formal agreements in place with relevant local authorities. We also work closely with RAAPS-DRC and local churches to identify children in need. We hope to be able to offer a place to all children in a locality that are in need of somewhere safe to live and would benefit from an education. The two Ministers for Education and building are involved and will delegate authority for inspection to the local authority. We also plan to work closely with local police authorities to ensure the school sites are safe and well protected for the interest of our beneficiaries...
