Explain your idea

iNuka Pap is a mobile platform that partners with Credit Unions and cooperatives to provide their members with easily accessible financial services such as pre-approved instant loans, mutually guaranteed loans and medical insurance.

Who Benefits?

Our customers are in rural Kenya, where 16,000 registered credit unions knows as Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (Saccos) exist to serve the unbanked. The total addresable market in Kenya alone currently stands at 14,000,000 members. This members cover 70% of bread winners in Kenya with at least 3 dependants. By accessing instant loans, we have potential to impact over 30 million lives.

How is your idea unique?

Due to weather patterns, there are many emergency scenarios that farmers have to constantly deal with, eg potato/tomato blight. Incase of such incidents, farmers loose their produce if they cannot treat their produce in time. These farmers rely heavily on SACCO loans, which takes a minimum of 2 days to access incase of an emergency. This makes it impossible to treat their produce on time. With our Mobile platform, farmers can now receive the loans instantly on their phone and purchase and treat their produce. We have further improved the system to allow the farmers to request the SACCO to pay merchants directly (similar to a credit card)
