Bridging Peace and Planet

We are looking for solutions that build bridges between planet and peace, benefitting both communities and our planet by utilizing peacebuilding, cooperation and coexistence.

The global population is increasing at a rate that places immense strain on our world’s resources. When encountering scarcity, communities around the world rely on cooperation and partnership to prevent conflict.

Resource-poor areas, often found in the global south, bear much of this burden of scarcity and distress, but developed nations will soon feel these pressures as well. The need for dialogue, resource management and resilience is great, and opportunity abounds for both prevention and response.

To further clarify this Opportunity Area, here is an example of an initiative aligned with bridging peace and planet: The Sri Lankan Government builds a program to bolster water security in postwar recovery. Note that this example is not meant to be limiting, and successful proposals might look very different. Instead, it offers a tangible case that represents bridging work across these topics.
