The center will be built at district and/or Kebele/village level equipped with medias of communication (Internet access, Mobile and TV and Radio) as source of inofrmation and with few personnels of professional expertees. Information will be gathered everytime necessary and update the producers. Those who need the information (can be how to produce properly, manage farm, harvesting time and maturity, marketing, storage, and other value adding technologies) can come to the nearby Center and gather information. The center workers will also tour arround and update the producers whenever there is a new technology and market price flactuation appear so that they can cop up themsleves what, when and how to produce and harvest to avoid food spoilage/loss. The center will also arrange a compaign and training on awarness creation on the current problem of postharvest loss and Media will also be considered at least 15 minute per week. awaring many &providing useful and temely information to those who are in need will minimize the loss and increase the food availblility

WHO BENEFITS?

The primary beneficiaries are 1. Producers: producing properly and harvest timely will help them supplying their produce timely and with fair price. So they serve the end users by providing quality and enough food and get fair return 2. End users: as explained in number 1they get enough, safe and quality food 3. Government: if those producers are using such program and implement to serve the end users and help themsleves, they at least help the budget, time and other resources & meet its goal

WHERE WILL YOUR IDEA BE IMPLEMENTED?

Ethiopia, Afar Regional State as a bench marking will be the location where I start working and will extend to other areas as per the effectiveness of the project. The idea will be implemented in areas where the problem is high (small scale producer)

I am working in Governmental University, Samara University found inAfar Regional state of Ethiopia. I am a lecturer specialized on Postharvest management (MSc) with Horticulture (BSc). I do researches and community services based on the university & want to work in collaboration & need your support

The center will be established in Afar Regional state, Asaita and Afambo districts for the time being. Inofrmation will be gathered from formal information sources, Medias (TV and Radios) and others and will be compiled to be used by the producers. information will be shared between producers and between Centers as well and official market price will be used to sell the already harvested produce. By knowing the market situation, producers will harvest timely and know when to sell and to whom. When they do this there will not be market delay and no or less spoilage of the product. The work will aslo be extended to other areas and compaign will be used to aware every chain actors regarding postharvest loss we are facing currently considering what we are doing on boosting production. Payed personnels and model producers will be involved
