JIKOMBOE Food Processing for Small Scale farmers in Tanzania (JIFOST)

The goal of this program is to reduce the food waste among small-scale farmers to increase food availability and raise household income.

Jikomboe is entrepreneurship idea with the purpose of fight poverty among Small Farmers of Tanzania. It will work by providing training on processing, small loans through technology of mobile phone. Jikomboe will tackle the problem of food wastage which contributing to bring poverty to small scale farmers; because farming is employ more than 80 % of Tanzanians, particularly the rural population. Despite the fact that agriculture employs huge number of people, 70% of Tanzania remains poorly because they don't produce adequately. The Jikomboe food processing technology unique of entrepreneurship provide training to small scale farmers on food processing This training will be in the classroom and practical, its will look at the result of the lack of capital, packaging material, modern methods of processing, lack of small food processing industries, as a way of contributing to continue contributing to the destruction of food and increased poverty among smallholder farmers in Tanzania. Now small scale farmers from Nzega are in the class learning how to processing foods to reduce food wastage; small scale farmers who trained in food processing are empowered with capital through mobile technology to enable them to continue in the field of food processing, Small scale farmers who trained in food processing now are working in processing their products. We will working in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Tanzania, SIDO, TFDA.

WHO BENEFITS?

Beneficiaries of this program are 100 small farmers both young mothers and men aged 15-25, living in rural areas of Tanzania. They will benefit by getting training in food processing, access to capital. Will benefit by getting training on processing of crops, this training will be provided for a period of one week, there will be experts from Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

Currently the idea is implemented at Tanzania rural & urban area, Where is production of fruits such as mango, banana and vegetables, such as carrots, onions, lemons, tomatoes green pepper & are wasted for lack of education, material for processing

I Japhet A Kalegeya, I have experience of managing projects for over 10 years,I'm a researcher in the area of agriculture, using HCD process. The organization offers educational entrepreneurship in collaboration with the department of agriculture

Jikomboe intend to fight poverty by reducing food losses among small farmers of Tanzania . By providing education of food processing,  it is helping transforming societies by increasing food security and securing farmer income.

The main intervention will include, providing education to small farmers on food processing, provide small loans through technology of mobile phone,M-pesa, Airtel money, Tigo-pesa, we will enable farmers to enter into practical activities of food processing, exhibition and find good markets.

The Jikomboe will ensure that sustainability to deal with a problem of food wastage, through the provision of education for the processing of food for small farmers, merchants of fruits and vegetables, also the project will look at the result of the lack of capital, packaging material, modern methods of processing, lack of small food processing industries, as a way of contributing to continue contributing to the destruction of food and increased poverty among smallholder farmers in Tanzania.

I immerse myself in the context of crops market and seek inspiration in analogous.

Congratulations for your creativity, and they are very good, it will help small farmers overcome poverty, increase economic productivity would raise production. Many products have been wastage for lack of knowledge of the processing of crops, for example, Tabora region produces mango,tomatoes, banana etc. but farmers do not benefit from these crops.
