To promote use of solar driers to improve post-harvest management and reduce food losses and add value to vegetables and fruits, so the preservation of fruit and vegetables by simple sun drying will be practiced widely throughout rural areas. The use of low cost, solar-drying technologies, can significantly improve product quality thereby providing practical opportunities for developing small-scale enterprise, particularly in rural areas, and creating employment for women's groups.

WHO BENEFITS?

The objective isto increase food security among women, men, girls and boys most vulnerable to climate change in the refugee/returnee areas of Nyagatare, Gatsibo, Bugesera, Kayonza and Kirehe Districts in Eastern Rwanda. The main outcomes will be planned to be achieved by improving household nutrition and income-generation through gender-sensitive climate adaptation initiatives (permaculture kitchen gardening, cooperative demonstration gardens, and women’s capacity building
