What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

The migration problem continues to grow worldwide, Latin America, specifically has the second biggest wave of refugees and migrants due to the Venezuelan crisis. In Peru this phenomenon has increased by 76.8% in 2019 with the arrival of Venezuelan migrants, that is why the opportunity for labor insertion into the private sector is scarce and complex mainly for implications regarding documentation and legal immigration requirements, then, what if we facilitate the first contact with the neighboring country once the migrant steps on foreign land? The benefits of presenting first-contact social assistance, lie in: Relieve expectations from the migrant Reduce mendicity Reduce informal jobs with high levels of exploitation Provide immediate connection Provide post-arrival emotional and economic stability during the insertion into the country. Promote cultural networking between migrants and local people Generate equal opportunities for everyone who needs help Laboral and legal orientation The idea is based on a fast and small job network based on a recommendation algorithm that is complemented with social validation like research and interviews with users indicated that the opportunity for new jobs lies in being referred for a good job.

Geography of focus (500 characters)

Lima, Peru and Bogotá, Colombia as they are the cities with the highest immigration rate today because of the Venezuela crisis. Around 4 million Venezuelan has left their country, most of them young women and men in working age and highly skilled.

Building Bridges: What bridge does your idea build between people on the move and neighbors towards a shared future of stability and promise? (500 characters)

Connection through solving the problem with skill migrant population. Fulfill local and individual needs with an external perspective and different method of work. Sharing cultural values between local and migrant population. Better understanding and awareness of the human conditions of the migrant population once they work on local needs. Social validation and trust-building with the migrant population based on a recommendation system that connects both parties.

What human need is your idea solving for? (1,000 characters)

This project seeks to provide dignity to the migrant population through opportunities framed within the law that allow a social and emotional connection with the population and local organizations. Also, this generates a high impact of joy since skilled migrants and refugees can be in charge of generating solutions to local and personal problems which allows a better assessment as individuals and community that leads to a better and greater social integration and the generation of hope for a better future.

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

The network will provide a portfolio of problem solutions based on migrant knowledge and labor that impacts directly in the economic factor of the receiving community. This implies the possibility of developing more awareness of the problems that faces migrants population which leads to more understanding and eradicate the perceived danger of immigration. -Opportunity to live a decent life -Social and economic inclusion -Partial or total stability through connection with job opportunities -Reduction of labor exploitation due to lack of regulatory documentation to work in the private sector.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

This idea is important to us because we feel a high empathy as Venezuelans in exile who belong to this displacement of citizens that has taken place in recent years, this allows us to really understand the roots of the situation and the coyuntural problems that it represents. We particularly believe that we can contribute positively by generating connections and human quality through the proposed idea. Having the first-hand experience allows us to analyze and propose viable solutions implementation of real solutions to our target population.

Describe the dynamics of the community in which the idea is to be implemented. (1,000 characters)

Our primary target is the growing Venezuela wave of migrants. Around 5,000 Venezuelans leave the country each day. The estimated number of Venezuelan migrants abroad is currently 4 million and could double by 2020. Most of them seek refuge in the main cities of countries like Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Most of them take short courses and learn new skills before arriving at their destination in many cases to look for low paid jobs due to the lack of required documentation in these migrant-receiving countries, sometimes this occurs under conditions of modern slavery and informality.

How does your idea leverage and empower community strengths and assets to help create an environment for success? (1,000 characters)

Strengths lie in social and economic needs and experience. The migration crisis results in a high volume of people with diverse knowledge, skills and also with the active intentions of moving forward in search of a promising and stable future. In many cases, they look for rapid social ascent in order to help their families back in their countries of origin. Most of them plan to stay in the migrant-receiving countries until a solution to the crisis is evident for them to return to their country of origin.

What other partners or stakeholders will work alongside you in implementing the idea, if any? (1,000 characters)

The network will be composed by different groups that will an active role in developing opportunities and act as bridgebuilders. As this network will be in different places in both digital and in situ forms, there's the need of cooperation and duties of different parties such as: - Migrants & refugees: As a skilled and professional individuals capable of solving local problems and applying to opportunities listed in the network (job seekers). - Local individuals: By posting opportunities and short term jobs in the network - Private Sector: By providing new opportunities and job opportunities that could be potentially posted in the network. - NGOs: By providing first time assistance (like food and shelter), logistic and orientation in legal procedures - Multinational Organizations (UNHCR, UNICEF, ONU, etc.): By providing first-time assistance (like food and shelter), logistic and orientation in legal procedures.

Our group focuses on the experience of refugee and migratory displacement. We both had to leave our country of origin, Venezuela to take a new path in neighboring countries. Luckily, our experience in both Lima and Bogotá has been good and full of opportunities, which is why this project interests us, we would like everyone to have the same opportunity or integrate into new cultures successfully, so we know and understand all aspects and consequences of this migratory phenomenon.

Hello Elba , this is a great idea we do job readiness program where we train refugees on Microsoft packages CV writing, cover letters and interview responses. You idea is great to go an extra mile to help in selection to get these people jobs. My question is, do you help identify employees for specific employers , thus you are contacted on the availability of the vacancies?

Hi Brendah

At this time our main focus would be to help locate people with temporary jobs related to "skills" to achieve a "faster" insertion to the new country. These jobs are related to Crafts (painting, gardening, removals, dog walkers, etc.) that are more accessible because they have less legal implications at the labor level since bureaucracy and poor immigration management makes it complicated for these people.

The next step would be framed with professionals, seeking to relate companies with these experts. But it is important to get alliances and expedite management for the relevant labor procedures.
