What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

THE PROBLEM: Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs predicts that Physiological or basic needs, Safety needs, Social needs, Self Esteem and Self Actualization are sought by every person. Our Research from various prisons and communities revealed that because there are no known rehabilitation centers in the country, most ex-convicts in their pursuit to restore their lost lives due to years of conviction are always on the run in search for the Physiological or basic needs such as food, home and others but they end up in the wrong company again. This pushes them to end up in their former criminal lifestyle or become recidivist in order to gain these basic needs. Therefore, their transformation is hampered. Discussions with convicts, ex-convicts and prison officers revealed that building a rehabilitation center is the ultimate solution to provide wholistic transformation. SOLUTION OR ACTION PLAN: 1. Reaching out to all through letters, social media campaign and more. 2. Signing Partnership agreement with individuals, organizations and more for support in cash or kind such as employment, apprenticeship training, admission, schooling and more. NB: Agreement includes non- disclosure of beneficiaries former status as ex-convicts. 3. Registering Convicts: a. Personal Details: Name, Age, Gender, Residential Address c. Sentence Period: Start and End b. Skills or jobs c. Capital or tools needed. 4. After sentence video interview: to know more about ex-convicts: 5. Signing of agreement of good behaviour between ex-convicts and supporting individual or organization witnessed by Just Commit Foundation. 6. Release of funds for personal items, capital, tools or apprenticeship. 7. Monitoring and Evaluation of ex-convicts development for continuous counselling.

Displaced Ex-convicts on the move get a Home, Skills training, School, Apprenticeship, Employment and Capital to provide them Hope, Redemption, New Life & Restoration.

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

We believe wholistic change should involve the community. Therefore, we involve organizations to join the education of the general public: 1. On the disadvantages and advantages of accepting or rejecting ex-convict. 2. The need to go beyound donating basic needs and join the transformation process. Also we incorporate mass media education using such as social media, radio, TV, posters and flyers.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

We are inspired by our teenage during when some friends who became Ex-convicts enjoyed our company and motivation. Now, we are inspired by the words from prison officers, convicts and ex-convicts who are seeking hope to re-build their life.

Describe the dynamics of the community in which the idea is to be implemented. (1,000 characters)

From discussions with Convicts and Prison officers, the Prison service regularly receives donations in kind and cash from individuals and organizations in our community to cater for convicts. This is because the funding of GH C 1.8 or US$ 0.33 per day for an ex-convict is not enough. This shows a loving and welcoming community although no or little support is given to cater for ex-convicts on the move.

How does your idea leverage and empower community strengths and assets to help create an environment for success? (1,000 characters)

To leverage our mining community assests and strengths we ensure: 1. Reaching out to all through letters, website, webform, social media campaign & more to register convicts, ex-convicts & partners. 2. Signing Partnership agreement with individuals, organizations and more for support in cash or kind such as employment, apprenticeship training, admission, schooling and more. NB: Agreement includes non-disclosure of beneficiaries former status as convicts. 3. Signing of bond of good behaviour between ex-convicts and supporting individuals or organization witnessed by Just Commit Foundation. 4. Partnered Monitoring and Evaluation of ex-convicts development for continuous counselling by community and team.

Hi Janix Asare! Indeed great to design for the rehabilitation of ex-convicts. Nevertheless, criminality is sometimes attitudinal case. So, beyond meeting their physiological needs, is there any other program in this design for their behavioral change?
