What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

In a day, 100 Members residential area generates-
12,000+ litres of wastewater.
120- 140 KG of Human Poop.
30- 50 KG of Kitchen waste.
After processing, Residents can reuse the water for toilets, washing clothes & so on.
If residents do not want to use recycled water, we can refuel the lakes.

Water collected from 100 houses for 6 months can refuel a small lake or recycled water can be used for agriculture using drip irrigation and this will sustain 10- 20 small and marginal farmers for a year. Action can be taken according to local government guidance.

Human Poop and Kitchen waste contain methane, which can be used for cooking or fueling the vehicles. This will help in reducing the bad impact on the environment.

After removing methane from Human poop and kitchen waste, Organic manure can be used for agriculture, which will help to reduce the chemicals and promotion of the old method of growing the crops.

Geography of focus (500 characters)

Our product supports all the stakeholders of the EARTH (Animals, Birds, species of water and Human) but as wastewater is mainly generated and is not used by Humans so we have made 3 segments.

FARMERS and URBAN community are the primary stakeholders and third is the TRIBAL community across the geo because wastewater is generated by every individual and there is an opportunity to recycle and use the toilet water and human poop for the benefit of the society.

Building Bridges: What bridge does your idea build between people on the move and neighbors towards a shared future of stability and promise? (500 characters)

World Water Development Report-2019 by UN states that Global water demand is expected to continue increasing at a similar rate until 2050, accounting for an increase of 20 to 30% above the current level of water use. Over 2 billion people live in countries experiencing high water stress, and about 4 billion people experience severe water scarcity during at least one month of the year. Our solution will help to recycle the toilet water and reuse them for domestic purpose. Read the attachment

What human need is your idea solving for? (1,000 characters)

95% of the recycled water can be reused for the household purpose (Construction/ laundry/ Cleaning/ public toilets. OR Can be used to rejuvenate the lakes, which will bring back good old friends of its' own family-like group of different Birds, reptile team, team of different Fish community. OR Can be used for refueling the agricultural lands (Imagine 1 acre used 50K Lit/ Month, Therefor 1080000/ 50000= 21.6 acres) using just 300 person's toilet water we can provide water to 21. 6 acres of land for better yield. Sugarcane/ Corn/ Cassava/ Other crops cultivated by using recycled water and manure can be used for generating Bio-Cng, further, bio-cng can be used as fuel for the vehicle. This is Farmer Friendly, Indigenous, CostEffective, Import Substitute, Pollution Free and Sustainable. / Can be used for setting up of 21 Fish Farming units, which has the capacity of producing more than 200KG of fish/ prawns on each unit. This will help in reducing the fish extraction from sea

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

Yes, we have a predefined process. This process includes every step and guidelines to implement the project, this is a road map to reach our destiny.

We will make a detailed evaluation of our work every day, week and monthly. Feedback from the target community is the base for our work. We will rework to improve the quality of service which we provide.

We will keep the track record of how many liters of recycled water is being used for what purpose. How many Kg's of vermicompost is being sold and how it is helping to get a better yield from the farm.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

Water is a major problem in many parts of the world. The groundwater level is going down day-by-day. In India, 40% of the community will not have safe water facility by 2030 also Government of India published a report saying that 21 Indian cities will run out of the groundwater by 2020.

Therefore, there is a high requirement for the effective utilization of the available resources and reuse the same in possible ways.

Hence, I have decided to work on toilet wastewater to make use of it for a better environment as water is precious in most part of the WORLD.

Describe the dynamics of the community in which the idea is to be implemented. (1,000 characters)

As I have explained in the attached document, our main focus is towards serving Farmer, Urban & Tribal community.

We want to start with small and scale it month on month.

To begin with, we would like to work with hostels or with apartments to collect the toilet water and kitchen waste.

We just need 10/10Ft. area and permission to collect toilet water and kitchen waste from 100 houses area. This can be anywhere in the world.

Everyone needs water and if anyone does not want to use it for their purpose, we will use it and make use of it for Aquaponics OR Farming OR creating a forest or for any other reason but recycled water can be used by anyone so it is the uniqueness of our product that serves very important aspects of our day-to-day life.

How does your idea leverage and empower community strengths and assets to help create an environment for success? (1,000 characters)

Water is a crucial and very important part of Mother Earth. Our motto is to effective re-utilization of water as much possible. Climate change is one of the burning issues across the World and most important part of this climate change is over-extraction of groundwater, Deforestation, and Overfishing.

We are committed to collect toilet water, recycle it and use the same. Perhaps, this is a just small step to conserve the available resources of the Mother Earth.

As a team, we have a common interest to work for the sustainable development of the communities. As our interest is to work towards a sustainable future, this idea is an integral part of our interest.

We are closely connected social enthusiasts, one is working in providing safe drinking water, One is working on Bio-Gas so as a founder of eco-tank, I am using my network to tie the rope for making a bridge for better tomorrow.

This bridge will help all the stakeholders of Mother Earth (Plants/ Trees, Animals, Birds and species of water).

Hello Santhosh,
This project is very impactful. Did I understand correctly that EcoTank requires around 10x10ft to digest wastes of 100 house?!

We have a similar project with PraxEco called "Methane Composter" and our idea is to make this bio-digester for home-scale applications. We've done a lot of research but unfortunately experimenting with it here in Quebec is illegal. Perhaps we can exchange more on the technical sides, publish scientific papers together, and have evidence that this system actually works and is more sustainable than the conventional septic system. Does that make sense to you?

Photo of Santosh Ittanagi

Absolutely! Happy to collaborate with all the interested people for a sustainable future. I have sent you to request on LinkedIn. Let us work together.
