What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

Mulyasari hamper community is located in remote area in Bogor Regency and near from the foot of Pancaniti Mountain. Everyday people do not have access to neighbouring village and village facilities. Sanitation facilities in Mulyasari hamper are inadequate so that most people suffer from scabies, both adults and children. Mulyasari villagers is a community that moved hamper because of being victims of landslides from the previous hamper. The potential that we offer is the productive land that we want to develop into an integrative livestock husbandry and environmentally friendly activities. We manage agricultural and livestock waste into compost, bran, and use the maggot or black soldier flies (BSF) method. The compost will be used for agriculture and plantations, while the BSF which has been 15-18 days can be used as chicken and catfish feed. Not only that, the maggot can also be sold to farms in neighbouring villages and maggot trash can be processed into compost. In general, the Mulyasari villagers will harvest goats, chicken, eggs, catfish, and BSF. Inspired by new grazing methods, we want to promote integrated livestock husbandry that is productive without waste, fertile land, and as a climate mitigation. We will apply the concept of circular economy and circular agri-food system where all resources in Mulyasari hamper will be maximized, affordable operational costs, improve animal welfare, and Mulyasari villagers have a good health. In realizing this concept, we will develop a planning and monitoring system through applications or online media that can be managed by young people who help the integrated livestock husbandry work. In the first and second years, the target to be achieved is increased livestock productivity and sales distribution through the promotion of creative traditional markets, online media, and donors or supporters. In the third year, the development of village facilities will be carried out in order to develop the potential for eco-tourism.

Geography of focus (500 characters)

The location of our community development is in the inland areas of Bogor Regency, namely in Mulyasari Hamper, Sukamulya Village, Sukamakmur District. This community was chosen because it is a very disadvantaged community where there is no access road. Mulyasari villagers is located in disaster prone area which is difficult to develop the local economy and has natural potential. Mulyasari villagers also not considered by the government so that it becomes left behind and outbreaks of disease.

Building Bridges: What bridge does your idea build between people on the move and neighbors towards a shared future of stability and promise? (500 characters)

The Mulyasari villagers and neighboring village will get an economic impact when integrated livestock husbandry is operating. The neighboring village will become a land of shops that sell food, souvenirs, etc. Moreover, the neighboring village community can be affected by the income earned by Mulyasari villagers and imitate the sustainable ways used in animal husbandry. This system could later expand around the village, so that it did not rule out opening up employment opportunities.

What human need is your idea solving for? (1,000 characters)

This idea will have an impact on the basic needs of Mulyasari villagers i.e education, sanitation, infrastructure, health, and the economy. Most Mulyasari villagers only have low education and some residents can only use local languages. Today many villagers work as farm laborers and odd laborers. But they have skills in animal husbandry and agriculture, and in our opinion, this can be enhanced by training and assistance in managing integrated livestock husbandry. Sanitation in Mulyasari is also very bad, out of 61 households only 25 households have bathrooms, gray water does not flow properly. In addition, public awareness to manage waste is also still lacking. Then around 80 percent Mulyasari villagers is low-income population. Through this idea, citizens will have good education and health, an improved economy, and environmental management of livestock. Along with a growing economy, we encourage Mulyasari have adequate facilities such as electricity, clean water, and health access.

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

Mulyasari hamper has productive land that has not been used and community leaders want to invite all communities to get involved and free from scabies and become an independent hamper. Mulyasari villagers have a passion in harvesting crops and livestock but it is difficult to sell the harvest. During the Eid al-Adha, through the waqf initiative foundation with donors buying all the livestock of Mulyasari villagers and all the community cooperating when slaughtering animals and distributing them to the neighboring village community. Mulyasari hamper also has a local boarding school where there are young people who are actively helping the community in farming and livestock husbandry. Through the idea of integrated livestock husbandry, we believe that the economic potential of Mulyasari villagers will growing, zero waste, as a climate change mitigation, and this idea can be implemented in other rural villages or hamper in other region in Indonesia.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

Our concern is the principle of efficiency and the circular bio-economy in livestock husbandry. Many of the livestock husbandry in Indonesia produce a lot of waste and impurities that are not utilized. Through this idea we are optimistic with this system the environmental conditions will sustainable and pollution can be addressed continuously. Inspired by new grazing methods and BSF method, this idea is very appropriate in the village of restoration because it is easy to implement and has an impact on the community's economy. The determination of Mulyasari villagers and the collaboration that has been made makes us optimistic to implement this method. We also believe that this idea can answer climate change because we will manage feed production, enteric fermentation & animal waste through composting, BSF method, and a traditional biogas. This idea will reduce emissions which are Indonesia's contribution to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Climate Agreement.

Describe the dynamics of the community in which the idea is to be implemented. (1,000 characters)

Mulyasari villagers is a community that moved because of a landslide. Until now, government assistance is very little and almost never got information to become a developing hamper. Most people work as farm laborers and have livestock. However, because they do not have good sanitation insight, farm and livestock waste is not managed and become one of the causes of scabies. Mulyasari villagers in their daily lives are assisted by young people who go to local boarding school. This is also an opportunity for us to provide assistance to young people in Mulyasari in managing integrated and sustainable livestock husbandry, also can sell livestock and farm products through the online market and create traditional markets that sell all crops by promoting the potential of eco-tourism in Mulyasari hamper. Mulyasari villagers are known as people who work hard and want to be free from scabies. Through interviews, the community will cooperate in managing productive land.

How does your idea leverage and empower community strengths and assets to help create an environment for success? (1,000 characters)

This idea is easy to implement. The Mulyasari villagers will have a short training to understand the integrated livestock husbandry system with environmentally friendly activities such as composting, BSF method, and a traditional biogas. We use local materials which is near from Mulyasari hamper and we also engage all the Mulyasari villagers to involves from preparation to the implementation. So that we can maximize the closest resources and maximize the participation of all communities. We focus on developing the integrated livestock husbandry and agriculture that implement a bio-circular economy. In general, we have 4 stages who community leader and young people engage in all activities i.e preparation, main process, monitoring & evaluation, and improvement. In addition, this idea will improve sanitation quality and reduce sufferers of scurvy by building toilets and providing health facilities, through income from integrated livestock husbandry activities.

What other partners or stakeholders will work alongside you in implementing the idea, if any? (1,000 characters)

In carrying out this idea we will involve community leaders, local boarding school, livestock husbandry distributors, and humanitarian organizations, and bio-circular economy expert. Community leaders will help us in facilitating all community members who want managing the integrated livestock husbandry. We also engage local boarding school in Mulyasari hamper, most of student of local boarding school is young people then they will support all activities especially in promoting this project. In the future, we must get a distributor to sell the harvest. In addition, this idea is open to all expert or activist who have experience in promoting zero waste program and bio-circular economy project. Later we can also manage organic waste from the trash of the nearest traditional market and or the nearest village, so the productivity of integrated livestock husbandry will increased.

At present our foundation has a synergy of cooperation with a company for the construction of a local boarding school which is also used as a study room in Mulyasari hamper. When we visited there it turned out that the condition of the people there was quite apprehensive where access to the village was very difficult, poor sanitation, many poor people, scabies (skin diseases), and lack of education which made the village in a bad condition. From this situation, we took the initiative to create a community empowerment program that we started to improve the economy of the population so that other problems such as sanitation, infrastructure, health, education, the environment would be resolved. Through this initiative we will form a special organization to develop sustainable villages or hamper that implement a bio-circular economy and zero waste program. In realizing this initiative we involve all community leaders and zero waste activists to maximize the mentoring process.
