What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

For this project the community identified Nyamugashani Reviver in Nyakeya village with a good water yield that it seeks assistance to have photovoltaic (solar powered) water pumps and 2 x 10 000l tanks (reservoirs) installed for each. 300 acres of land will be cleared for irrigation of crops for the benefit of the communities. The Channels and Siphons will be used to irrigate the land. We shall pump water using water system of solar pumbing 300 acres for community to use organic farming and horticulture and grains to ensure food security in Uganda.

Agriculture is the dominant sector in the economy of Uganda, accounting for an average of about 18% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, this relatively moderate share of GDP is deceitful in that it does not fully show the real importance of the agricultural sector. The sector is the main source of income for up to 70% of the people of Uganda who are mainly women and children. It is also the main source of domestic food supply and therefore plays a critical role in household and national food security. This project proposes to improve the food security of the community of Kasese District Uganda.

What other partners or stakeholders will work alongside you in implementing the idea, if any? (1,000 characters)

we shall partner with Beneficiaries,NGOS and local government of Kasese In implementation of of solar powered irrigation system. To improve and sustain the livelihoods of in 50000 rural households inKasese District through the installation of Photovoltaic Solar Pumps for Irrigation purposes.

Tell us how you'd describe the type of innovation you are proposing

  • Technology-enabled: Existing approach is more effective or scalable with the addition of technology

Idea Proposal Stage

  • Pilot: We have started to implement the idea as a whole with a first set of real users. The feasibility of an innovation is tested in a small-scale and real world application (i.e. 3-15% of the target population)
