What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)
1. Refugees from different war-torn countries, conflicts may remain in the camp for long time with limited opportunity, with most of them very hopeless about their future and trying to find a potential and meaning to life as their old life have been completely disrupted even though they might be skilled. Some of them may have a good educational or/and working background and would like to work to earn their livelihood as well as to support their family and loved ones.
2. Refugees are looked at as burden by the hosting country / community, while there is true potential and skills in each one of them, which might help invigorate the hosting community. The refugees lack the soft skills and networking opportunities with prospective employers which leads to the limited access to jobs thus fewer chances for the refugees to integrate in the local community.
3. Uganda has an excellent system where registered refugees get right of movement as well as legitimate rights to work anywhere in the country without restriction . This provides an opportunity to bring together potential employers close to refugees with the right skills through a digital platform (Refugee job Finder). It will not be a typical job/ placement portal, as it will be customised with refugees in mind and will largely be reliant on mobile technology so as to increase wider adoption of the platform as well as rightful employers even if they are looking for a varied skill set for short to long term needs in their domestic/ business set up. The use of existing structures and systems by leveraging the government and NGO-run community strategy will enhance the scalability and sustainability of the project.
The system will enable self enrolment of skilled refugees as well as through third parties and map their skill set to open vacancies of prospective employers. Once the match is found, both parties are notified and establish job linkage opportunities

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)
Millions of skilled people had a meaningful life before being a refugee; due to various conflicts and unrest in their home country they get displaced and are forced to stay in refugee camps for years while relying on the local host government. The government looks at the refugees as a big burden. In some places like Uganda, refugees have the right to seek employment in the local community but it wouldn't be easy for the them to connect to prospective employers. Some employers in the local community would be willing to give jobs to certain skilled refugees but it is tough for them to connect to the right candidate. We intend to lower the burden for the local government and establish job opportunity linkages between the local community to nurture self-reliance and dignity within the refugee community.
