What problem does the idea help to solve and how does your solution work? (2,000 characters maximum)

The problem this idea aims to solve is majorly overcrowding in the refugee camps. But it also solve other problems such as more food, better shelter, employment thus ensuring self-reliance for when they are ready to rejoin society. It mainly impacts the working class but also improves quality of living for every individual in the camp. The solution, in my opinion is, commercial greenhouses and a borehole fitted with a filter, to begin with. These provide employment, food and clean water. Part of the proceeds from selling the harvest can go to building better, more permanent housing and schools. Part of it can go to the workers as wages and part of it can go to a fund for future projects such as processing plants for the products. This will also create more jobs and provide an opportunity increased wages.

Geography of focus (500 characters)

This project can be implemented in any part of the world but I for one would like to focus on places closer to home. That is, Kakuma in North Western Kenya.

Building Bridges: What bridge does your idea build between people on the move and neighbors towards a shared future of stability and promise? (500 characters)

This idea will build a bridge between people on the move in that after a certain amount of time, they will be able to move on other parts of the world and be able to start over or return to their home country. Either way, they end up independent. As for the neighbors, they will also be able to benefit by getting better food products readily.

What human need is your idea solving for? (1,000 characters)

Besides basic needs, this will fulfill needs such as hope for a better future, joy because the hope for a better future becomes more than just a dream and the dignity of being able to provide basic needs for themselves and their families without solely relaying on aid.

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

I'm confident that implementing this idea will result in better quality of living, improved health and independence. Plus, better housing ensures they are protected from natural elements such as floods and harsh winds.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

Putting a stop malnutrition and other diseases within camps and ensuring they are able to provide other basic needs for themselves.

Describe the dynamics of the community in which the idea is to be implemented. (1,000 characters)

Every able bodied person can work in the greenhouses to produce and harvest the various crops for a certain amount each month and the rest of the amount goes to providing other facilities that will benefit the community and expanding on the business.

How does your idea leverage and empower community strengths and assets to help create an environment for success? (1,000 characters)

This will ensure team building and communion between the refugees and their neighbours. This is because they will be able to see that by working together, they are ensuring they all eventually reach their end goal which is a better life than the one they left behind.
