Geography of focus (500 characters)

South Africa in two regions ( Gauteng and Kwa Zulu Natal )

Building Bridges: What bridge does your idea build between people on the move and neighbors towards a shared future of stability and promise? (500 characters)

A number of immigrants cross the border in search of a better life. They come with families members, Sometimes babies and often with disabilities. This program capacitates their people to nurture these infants whilst their parents are off trying to earn an income.

What human need is your idea solving for? (1,000 characters)

ensuring that all children are given an opportunity to be nurtured towards proper development in their foundation years . to develop their cognitive ability to its maximum during this time.

What will be different within the community of focus as a result of implementing your idea? (1,000 characters)

People with disabilities will be afforded an opportunity to access training towards employment and children with disabilities will receive development in their formative years rather than be hidden away from society only to their detriment later in their lives.

What is the inspiration behind your idea? (1,000 characters)

I am 55 years this year and have worked in the space of people with disabilities since the age of 15, so i have seen a lot that has been promised and how through exclusion children and people with disabilities have been taken a hundred steps back. yet if society had put in place what we are proposing then the playing field would have been a very different place.

What other partners or stakeholders will work alongside you in implementing the idea, if any? (1,000 characters)

We have been working with Eskilz College since 2002 and they have been our training and development partner

Hi Kamal Parmesar Timmal! Indeed very thoughtful of you to design for the most vulnerable group of all times. Yes; disabled persons reserve many potential and resilience but lack societal support to harness them. The blind, deaf, dumb, lame, etc are daily going through harrowing ordeal just to eke a living. In fact, most people think that disability is inability, wrong! In an atmosphere of social acceptance, training, and opportunity, disabled persons could be awesomely productivity. So, thank you once again for this giant stride.

Thanks Kamal Parmesar Timmal  for the updates here.

Remember to update your idea with any new insights before the challenge idea's phase comes to an end.

Is there a particular migrant community in Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng that you are working with or hoping to work with?

I wonder if you are planning any small activity to test out your concept (in terms of maybe your curriculum, materials, etc)? The community research toolkit: https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5a147545b687370001bfd10c/5d1669526ad3cb33291bf633_User-Experience-Interview.pdf can be good guide in helping plan this out. Feel free to share with us insights from the same.

You can also check out Humanity Inclusion - https://www.hi-us.org/ an organization dedicated to support initiatives such as yours .

Best, Isaac

Thank you Bremley Lyngdoh. Our work is far from done. We seek funding and would appreciate any assistance that we can obtain.

Hi Kamal Parmesar Timmal , great to have you submit your idea for the challenge. I like that your idea is focused on empowering people with disabilities to be in a position to earn income and help nurture a generation. Could you share more about context, where this happens. Do you have kits and resources to help you provide the training?

Looking forward to seeing the idea evolve.

Isaac, thank you for your response. We currently run the project in Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng, South Africa. We would like to run this project elsewhere, however funding constraints limit us. We do need assistance to provide resources for the simulations for the learners.

Having visiting Kwa Zuku Natal in Madiba Land I understand what you are talking about so I salute your dedication to the work that you have having been doing since you were 15 years old Kamal Parmesar Timmal and I feel that you have a wealth of bottom up ground based experience and knowledge that you can share and replicate in other cities and countries. Like Isaac Jumba said I am also looking forward to witnessing how your project idea evolves.
