With the advent of globalization and opening up of Indian economy to outside world, competition among industries has become stiff. To solve their engineering problems they look up now to engineering institutions. Similarly, there is an urgent need to prepare engineering students for jobs in multinational companies, by exposing them to newer technologies and engineering methodologies.These objectives can only be achieved well by bridging the gap between industry and the academic institutions. Better interaction between technical institutions and industry is the need of the hour. This will have great bearing on the engineering curriculum, exposure of engineering students to industrial atmosphere and subsequent placement of young graduating engineers in industries across the country.

While in-depth knowledge and industry expertise is essential, proficiency in English, inter-personal skills as well as problem solving and other managerial skills that enable people to work with colleagues across the globe and manage all kinds of diverse situations are important too, as graduates and young adults all over the world face challenges when they leave the campus.Soft skills are interpersonal, human or behavioural skills necessary for applying technical skills and knowledge in the workplace. Thus, certain steps are required to be taken to ensure better quality of skill development by incorporating soft skills training in the process of skilling India’s workforce. we are under the collaboration discussion with National Skill Development Corporation aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality and for-profit vocational institutions. Further, the organisation provides funding to build scalable and profitable vocational training initiatives. Its mandate is also to enable support system which focuses on quality assurance, information systems and train the trainer academies either directly or through partnerships. NSDC acts as a catalyst in skill development by providing funding to enterprises, companies and organizations that provide skill training. It also develops appropriate models to enhance, support and coordinate private sector initiatives.
