OpenIDEO stopped by the 2014 Social Good Summit, a conference examining the role of technology on social good initiatives around the world. Held during UN Week in New York, a dynamic community of global thought leaders, technological innovators and creative problem solvers united to explore the question, "What type of world do I want to live in by the year 2030?" We were blown away by the insights and conversations that came together on the topic of unlocking technology's potential to create impact in the world. OpenIDEO is proud to be at the Clinton Global Initiative 2014 Annual Conference. This year's theme is 'Reimagining Impact'. It has been an inspiring whirlwind of conversations on rethinking how we can create value through innovative approaches to impact. Thought leaders from all over the world have convened to share insights, successes and challenges in an ongoing committment to make a better world.
Since February, thousands of people and organisations around the world have contributed to the Women’s Safety Challenge, our inaugural Amplify challenge on OpenIDEO. From interviewing a neighbour to brainstorming wearable technology to prototyping community services, it’s been an incredible ride that’s led us to a Shortlist of 15 ideas, each designed to promote safety for women and girls in their own unique way.
Here at OpenIDEO, impact can take many shapes and sizes – from small actions you've taken in your local community after reading our challenge conversations all the way to new social enterprises or services that grow out of challenge ideas – and everything in between. One of the great features of the Ground Miles app, which evolved from our Workplace Wellness Challenge, is the ability to form teams and track your collective progress plus motivate yourself to walk more for your team as well as your own health. So here's where you come in: we've set up a Ground Miles team for our OpenIDEO community and we're keen for you to join up to help reach the goal of 5 million miles. You've all collaborated in so many ways to awesome ideas on OpenIDEO, now let's join forces to get active and create impact!
The +U volunteering mobile app is the result of the Open Planet Ideas challenge (powered by OpenIDEO) where ideas were sought to create sustainable lifestyles from existing technologies.

This time around in our Evaluation phase, your efforts were just as impressive, with 472 evaluations submitted for our Top 20 shortlist!
