Over the course of the Urban Resilience Challenge, we'll be featuring highlights of contributions from each of our themed mission areas. This week, we've seen an incredible number of inspirations and thought-starters from our global community. As the Ideas Phase progresses, we would love for you to spread the word and invite organizations working within these focus areas to join the challenge!
Mission 1: Communication
Shoutbox – A series of open forum kiosks within urban slum communities where local residents can voice their needs, exchange feedback and communicate directly with local leaders
Mission 2: Small-Scale Infrastructure
Re-cycled Housing – An alternative construction system that repurposes recycled plastics to build affordable housing for displaced families in Colombia
Mission 3: Community
Build the Builders – A design and construction program in urban slum communities that will train locals to build safer infrastructure in face of natural disasters
Mission 4: Maximizing Limited Water Supply
Biosand Filtration – A system of in-home biosand filtration devices that improves personal hygiene and access to clean drinking water for rural communities in Jamaica.
We’re looking forward to seeing your ideas for bringing resilience innovation to urban slum communities. Join the challenge to support communities as they adapt and transform to meet the challenges of climate change!
