How could this signal offer more specific information? Image from courtesy of j.buckle
We recently talked with USAID and Humanity United about the ideas that you’ve submitted so far for the Atrocity Prevention Challenge. They’ve been inspired by both the diversity of ideas and depth of conversations they’ve seen in the comments on the platform so far. Keep it up!
In the discussion one theme emerged that they wanted to share with you. There are a group of ideas around helping people send distress signals that could have more detail in the type of information that the system/process/tool uses. For example, if there was an idea about using mobile phones to signal distress, what other information could they share beyond that they are in trouble?
Beyond just more specific information being sent out, they wondered for some of these same ideas where that information would go and who would use the information. Sometimes specific groups can handle information better, for example a parent teacher association would be the best place to share information about a new parenting program.
