Image Contribution: What's Your Healthy Habit? at San Francisco Design Week
We get excited when a challenge comes along that sparks us to make immediate positive changes in our daily lives. Since the beginning of the Healthy Lives Challenge, the OpenIDEO team has been captivated by the quality of content our community has shared on the platform – so much so that we’ve actually begun to incorporate some of these inspirations into our workday routines. Let’s take a behind-the-scenes look at how our online community has sparked a series of Healthy Office events within IDEO!
Inspired By Our OpenIDEO Community
Healthy Team Pact – One particular theme from the Research Phase that caught our eye was the notion of building a support community around healthy living. Inspired by posts like Kerrin McLaughlin’s Behavioral Change Through a Support Network and Shilpa Mandhan’s Make Fitness a Habit, we formed an OpenIDEO Healthy Team Pact to help each other reach our fitness goals. Keeping track of our individual accomplishments on a team calendar, we’re working together to reward our collective efforts with a fun outing at the end of the month!
Global Twitter Chat – Given that the role of technology and media is a significant part of this challenge, we recently engaged our OpenIDEO community in two live Twitter chats hosted by @SaludToday and @Latism. Building on provocations from Rocky Egusquiza’s Healthy Talk with Facebook Friends and Vanessa Garcia’s A Healthy Textsation, we leveraged the power of social media to start dialogues with a global audience on issues related to health, technology, and Hispanic communities.
One Song Workout – A team of IDEO San Francisco designers recently started their impromptu workouts to the beats of one pop song every morning in the office. What used to draw looks of bewilderment is now attracting a contagious following of IDEOers whenever we see the email alert, “[1SW] One song workout happening now in project space E” in our Inboxes. This growing movement is a wonderful example of how inspirations from posts like Aditi Gupta's Use 7 Minute Workout and Alison Brown’s Encouraging Active Behaviour can start to make immediate impacts in real life.
