Many of you already know about the exciting news we shared recently about the launch of the Ground Miles app, which emerged from our Workplace Wellness Challenge. Bupa, our challenge sponsor, together with the World Heart Foundation, have released an app with the aim of getting folks across the world to collectively walk 5 million miles – while helping promote the long term habit of walking and to reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
One of the great features of the app is the ability to form teams and track your collective progress plus motivate yourself to walk more for your team as well as your own health. So here's where you come in: we've set up a Ground Miles team for our OpenIDEO community and we're keen for you to join up to help reach the goal of 5 million miles. You've all collaborated in so many ways to awesome ideas on OpenIDEO, now let's join forces to get active and create impact.
To get involved:
• Go the My Groups tab by hitting the icon on the top left
• Hit the + sign on the top right to add a group
• Enter the invite code PTKMXAUH to join our OpenIDEATOR team
• Get walking!
Don't forget to leave the app open at all times so it can count your miles. You don't need to be worried about battery drain – it's configured so that's not an issue. And be sure to stay up to date with the latest version of the app to ensure optimal performance for your device.
Over time, you'll be able to see how far we are walking as a group and hopefully get motivated to walk even more yourself. We also hope you'll spread the word about Ground Miles and form your own groups with friends, family and colleagues. Let's show the world that wellness is something we can pursue together!
