Busy times on OpenIDEO this week! We've launched the brand new Youth Employment Challenge – which asks How can we equip young people with the skills, information and opportunities to succeed in the world of work? As young people transition through various stages of education into the workforce, they face increasing hurdles to secure gainful employment and career opportunities. Together with your help, OpenIDEO, Barclays and The Work Foundation are eager to explore these issues and identify solutions to help young people move into employment. Swing by the Inspiration phase – add examples and join conversations to help tease out the topic before we head on to Concepting.
We also announced our winners on the Web Start-up Challenge. It was a tough job whittling down our shortlist to get to the Top 10! As always, we're keen to recognise the constructive role that our entire community has played in helping these winning ideas reach their potential. It's been a spirited collaborative journey as we explored together how to support web entrepreneurs in launching and growing sustainable global businesses.
We're excited to share a Realisation update from our Vibrant Cities Challenge. A group of OpenIDEATORS have joined forces on the back of the challenge to form an initiative called Made in Lower Eastside (MiLES). It encompasses a multidisciplinary, 12-month design research project to co-create solutions for vibrancy – specifically in ways that best meet the needs and aspirations of local community stakeholders. Viva vibrancy!
