Over the course of the Agricultural Innovation Challenge, we'll be featuring highlights of contributions from each of our themed mission areas. This week, we've seen an incredible number of inspirations and thought-starters from our global community. As the Ideas Phase progresses, we would love for you to spread the word and invite organizations working within these focus areas to join the challenge!
Mission 1: Access to Financial Resources
FADAMA Seed Lending – A platform that will let buyers in Nigeria provide crop seeds upfront in exchange for the option of purchasing the crops at an agreeable market price after harvest.
Mission 2: Connection to Markets
SokoHuru Food Hubs – A farm-to-business delivery system in Kenya that pools together crops from small-scale farmers for distribution to larger-volume markets.
Mission 3: Access to Information
Farm.ink– A mobile marketplace that aggregates big data from multiple online platforms to create an accurate database that will meet the demands of farmers and buyers.
Mission 4: Storage and Processing
Bext360 – A network of smart kiosks in the Democratic Republic of Congo that will collect coffee beans while capturing crop data to increase efficiency and decrease waste.
We’re looking forward to seeing your ideas for bringing agricultural innovation to small-scale farming communities. Join the challenge to help improve the livelihoods of small-scale farmers by reducing food waste and spoilage!
