Over the course of the Agricultural Innovation Challenge, we'll be featuring highlights of contributions from each of our themed mission areas. This week, we've seen an incredible number of inspirations and thought-starters from our global community. As the Ideas Phase progresses, we would love for you to spread the word and invite organizations working within these focus areas to join the challenge!
Mission 1: Access to Financial Resources
Empowering Small-Scale Farmers – A cooperative society in rural Kenya where small-scale farmers will work together to control market prices and gain better access to financial resources.
Mission 2: Connection to Markets
Market Opportunities – A mobile-based trading platform where East African farmers will get the higher prices from buyers and the faster access to wider markets.
Mission 3: Access to Information
Farm IT – A SMS messaging platform where small-scale farmers, agricultural professionals, and other stakeholders in Kenya can share timely information throughout crop cycles.
Mission 4: Storage and Processing
NODE: Remote Data Monitoring – A low-cost monitoring unit that will help Zimbabwean farmers collect data and respond quickly to threats during crop storage.
We’re looking forward to seeing your ideas for bringing agricultural innovation to small-scale farming communities. Join the challenge to help improve the livelihoods of small-scale farmers by reducing food waste and spoilage!
